William George Aldred
A Private with the 5th Battalion, William died on 9th of April 1917 at the age of 27.
William was born at Shipmeadow, near Beccles, in 1890 (note some sources state Coddenham, or Beccles, as his place of birth). He was a son of William and Charlotte Jane Aldred. In 1891 his family lived at Beccles and, by 1901, at The Street, Blundeston. Later his parents lived at 2 Crossway Cottages, Corton.
Frederick Charles Butler
A Private with the 5th Battalion, Frederick died on 9th of April 1917 at the age of 24.
Frederick was born at Ely in 1893, a son of Harry and Hannah (Annie) Mary Lord Butler. His father, a G.E.R. railway inspector, died in 1894 and by 1901 Frederick and his mother were living at 101 Stanley Street and his mother worked as a railway waiting room attendant at Lowestoft.
Frederick married Grace Mildred Barnard at Lowestoft in 1913. They lived at 22 Tonning Street, Lowestoft.
John Samuel Savory Steel
A Lance Corporal with the 5th Battalion, John died on 17th of October 1917 at the age of 41.
John was born at Lowestoft on 18 October 1877, a son of George Samuel and Clara Steel. In 1881 his family lived at 5 Nelson Street. From 28 March 1887 John attended Saint Margaret’s School. In 1881 his family lived at 52 Mariners Street. By 1891 they were living at 281 Raglan Street, and John worked as a page.

Bertie Walter Gorrod
A Private with the 6th Battalion, Bertie died on 21st of March 1918 at the age of 31.
Bertie was born at Lowestoft on 7 December 1887, a son of Raca and Emma Gorrod. He was baptised at Saint Peter's Church, Kirkley, on 12 March 1887, and his family lived at 2 Newsom’s Buildings, Kirkley. In 1891 his family lived at 1 Southwell Road. Around 1891 Bertie became a pupil at Kirkley School. In 1901 his family lived at 20 Southwell Road and Bertie was a greengrocer on his ‘own account.’ By 1911 they were living at 16 Southwell Road and Bertie was a nurseryman.

Henry William Baldry
A Lance Corporal with 7th Bn., Henry died on 3rd of April 1916 at the age of 26.
Henry was born at Lowestoft in 1890, a son of Frederick John and Hannah Baldry. In 1891 his family lived at 60 Tonning Street, Lowestoft, and by 1901 at 16 Haward Street, Lowestoft. In 1911 his family lived at 55 Haward Street and Henry was a house painter.

Harold Augustus Boardley
A Lieutenant with the 8th Battalion, Harold died on 26th of September 1917 at the age of 20.
Harold was born at Lowestoft on 29 May 1897, a son of Henry Robert and Agnes M. Boardley. In 1901 his family lived at 186 Denmark Road. From 15 September 1908 Harold attended Lowestoft School of Science, and his family lived at Sunnyhill, The Avenue, Lowestoft. In 1911 Harold was a patient at Lowestoft Sanitorium, Rotterdam Road.
Harold was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry on 10 September 1915. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 1 July 1917.
