Bertie Frederick Clarke

A Civilian, Bertie died on 9th of April 1941 at the age of 48. Died at 100 Rotterdam Road.

William Frederick Cockrell

A Lieutenant with H.M.S. Martello, William died on 28 January 1942, aged 48. 

William was born at Wivenhoe, Essex, on 10 September 1893, a son of William Frederick and Margaret Christina Cockrell. He was baptised at Saint Mary’s Church, Wivenhoe, on 26 October 1893. By 1901 his family had moved to Lowestoft and lived at 4 Waveney Drive, and this was still their address in 1911 when William worked as an engineer. By 1916 their home was at Chesterfield House, Lowestoft, and later his parents lived at Arlington, North Parade.

George Elijah Coleman

A Chief Engineer with Fishing Vessel Westfield (Milford Haven), George died on 6th of July 1941 aged 48. 

George was born at Lowestoft on 25 April 1893, a son of Albert Harry and Mary Ann Coleman. In 1901 his family lived at 61 Clemence Street and in 1911 at 6 A Carlton Road, Pakefield, and George was a fisherman. 

Harry Flowers

A Fisherman with Drifter Will and Maggie (Lowestoft), Harry died on 3rd of November 1914 at the age of 48.

Harry was born at Kirkley in 1866, a son of William and Emily Flowers. In 1871 his family lived at 5 The Street, Kirkley. By 1881 they were living at Carlton Colville.  

Susan Dorothea Hambly

A Civilian, Susan died on 13th of January 1942 at the age of 48.

Susan, sometimes known as Susie, was born at Newmarket on 28 August 1893, a daughter of William Danton and Martha Coleman. In 1901 her family lived at 9 Stevens Street, Lowestoft, and by 1911 at 77 Norwich Road, Lowestoft, and Susie was a shop assistant at the 'Fancy Bazaar.' 

Emanuel William Harman

A Civilian, Emanuel died on 5th of June 1942 aged 48. 

Emanuel was born at Great Yarmouth on 9 February 1894, a son of Robert George and Minnie Harman. He was baptised at Saint Nicholas’ Church, Great Yarmouth, on 28 February 1894. In 1901 his family lived at 3 Belfort Place, Great Yarmouth, and this was still their home in 1911 when Emanual was a potted fish packer at a fish preserves factory. Later Emanual’s mother lived at Palgrave Road, Great Yarmouth. 

Walter John Hawes

A Civilian, Walter died on 7th of February 1941 aged 48. 

Walter was born at Beccles on 27 December 1892, a son of John D. and Elizabeth H. Hawes. In 1901 his family lived at 6 Factory Court, Factory Street, Lowestoft. By 1911 they were living at 14 Rotterdam Road. Walter became a labourer with the Great Eastern Railway and worked at Lowestoft September 1916. 

George Potter

A Shoeing Smith with 98th Battery, George died on 2nd of May 1915 at the age of 48. 

George was born at Knodishall, Suffolk, in 1867, a son of Francis and Elizabeth Potter. In 1871 his family lived Knodishall. In 1881 they were living at Cold Fair Green, Knodishall, and George worked as a blacksmith (as was his father and grandfather).

Jessie May Roach

A Civilian, Jessie died on 10th of August 1941 at the age of 48. 

Jessie was born at Lowestoft on 13 March 1893, a daughter of George and Susan Ann Smith. She was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 7 May 1893 and her family lived at 35 Edinburgh Road. 

Jessie married Sydney Road at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 18 December 1917. At that time he was a soldier on active service, and Jessie lived at 16 Queens Road. 

Thomas Scarll

Thomas Scarll

A Skipper with H.M. Drifter Eyrie. Thomas died on 2nd of September 1914 at the age of 48. 

Thomas was born at Lowestoft in 1865. No details of his parents have been found. In 1871 he was a pauper inmate at the Oulton 'House of Industry'. By 1880 Thomas was working at sea and in 1880-1881 he served on the sailing trawler Strive. 

On 29 October 1889 Thomas married Elizabeth Hale at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft. Thomas was a fisherman and they both lived at 70 London Road. By 1900 they were living at 35 Wollaston Road, and by 1914 at 62 Norwich Road, Lowestoft. 

John Thomas Wink

A Third Hand with Trawler Boy Sam (Lowestoft), John died on 12th of May 1916 at the age of 48.

John was born at Peasenhall, Suffolk, in 1868, a son of John Walter and Mary Ann Wink. He was baptised at Carlton by Saxmundham on 13 September 1868. In 1871 his family lived at The Street, Peasenhall. In 1881 they lived at Bruisyard Road, Peasenhall.
