Robert William Abbs
A Private with the 8th Battalion, Robert died on 19th of August 1916 at the age of 27.
Robert was born at East Runton, Norfolk, about 1889, a son of Robert Abbs. No other details of Robert’s early life are known. He cannot be conclusively identified on any civil record. Note: there is no actual evidence that his first names were anything other than Robert William, and this are confirmed by the marriage register entry at Saint Margaret’s Church.
Edward Albert Clark
A Private with the 8th Battalion, Edward died on 1st of July 1916 at the age of 39.
Edward was born at Lowestoft on 14 October 1876, a son of Abraham and Emily Clark. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 5 November 1876. In 1881 his family lived at Princes Road. In 1891 their address was 19 Princes Road. Later his parents lived at 15 Ipswich Road.
On 10 January 1914 Edward married Ellen Maria Reynolds at Saint Margaret’s Church. Edward was a fisherman living at 63 Beccles Road and Ellen lived at 2 Corton Road. Later Ellen lived at 49 Reeve Street.
Frederick Girling
A Private with the 8th Battalion, Frederick died on 23rd of October 1917 at the age of 37.
Frederick was born at Barnby, Suffolk, in 1881. He was a grandson of Jonathan and Mary Girling and is believed to have been the son of their daughter Hannah. If so, he was baptised at Barnby on 13 February 1882.
Frederick Noel Herbert
A Corporal with the 8th Battalion, Frederick died on 1st of July 1916 at the age of 23.
Frederick was born at Oulton, Lowestoft, on 11 May 1893. A son of John Frederick and Susanna Herbert .He was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Carlton Colville, on 16 July 1893 and his family lived at Oulton. In 1901 his family lived at 38 Victoria Road, Carlton Colville. Later his mother lived at 16 Esplanade, and then 7 Ontario Road.
Fred William Howard
A Private with the 8th Battalion, Fred died on 22nd of October 1917 at the age of 22.
Fred was born at Norwich in 1895, a son of Frederick William and Alice Phoebe Howard. In 1901 his family lived at 33 Norfolk Street, Heigham, Norwich, and by 1911 at 259 Heigham Street, Norwich. Later they moved to Lowestoft and lived at 7 Selby Street (this was still their home in 1939). In 1911 Fred worked as a machine hand at a boot manufacturers.
George Henry Spoore
A Private with the 8th Battalion, George died on 12th of October 1917 at the age of 35.
It is difficult to say exactly where George was born as three different records state three different places. Also, when George enlisted in the Army he claimed to be 38 years and 7 months old, when in fact he was only 32.
We do know that he was a son of James and Sarah Ann Spoore and that he was born around 1882. It is possible that he was born at Wednesfield, Staffordshire.
Thomas Robert Waller
A Private with 8th Battalion, Thomas died on 11th of February 1915 at the age of 21.

Clifford Charles Bunn
A Corporal with the 9th Battalion, Clifford died on 21st of March 1918 at the age of 21.
Clifford was born at Barnby in 1897, a son of Thomas George and Ellen Bunn. In 1901 his family lived at Beccles Road, Barnby, and this was still their address in 1911 when Clifford worked as a butcher’s boy. By 1919 his family were living at Syringa Cottage, Carlton Colville, and later his parents lived at Elm Tree Road, Carlton Colville.
Charles Frederick Howes
A Private with 9th Bn., Charles died on 26th of September 1915 at the age of 33.
Charles was born at Blundeston in 1882, a son of Frederick Robert and Hannah Ada Eliza Howes. He was baptised at Saint Mary’s Church, Blundeston, on 4 February 1883. In 1891 his family lived at High Street, Blundeston. In 1901 Charles, lived, and worked, at the Plough Inn, Blundeston, and was an ostler. Later his family lived at Normans Cottage, The Street, Blundeston.
Shales Frederick Lane
A Captain attached to the 9th Battalion Norfolk Regiment, Shales died on 18th of September 1918.

Henry James Chapman
A Second Lieutenant attached to the 7th Battalion The Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment), Henry died on 8th of August 1918 at the age of 32.
Henry was born at Ely in 1886, a son of Henry and Sarah Chapman. In 1891 his family lived at 36 Bamford Place, Barking, Essex. By 1901 they were living at Midloe, Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, and Henry was a music seller’s assistant.
In 1911 Henry lodged at 16 Waldegrave Road, Hornsey, and he was an assistant schoolmaster for London County Council. Later Henry was a teacher at Barming School, Maidstone, Kent.
