Roland Aubrey Leighton
A Lieutenant with the 7th Battalion, Roland died on 23 December 1915 at the age of 20. Roland was born at Saint John’s Wood, London, on 27 March 1895, a son of Robert and Marie Leighton. He was baptised at All saints’ Church, Saint John’s Wood, on 4 May 1895 and his family lived at 40 Abbey Road and this was still their home in 1911. By 1913 his parents were living at Heather Cliff, Lowestoft, and later lived at Chickeny Cottage, Warwick Road, Bishop’s Stortford.  De Ruvigny
Antrobus Taft Harris
A Lieutenant with 1st Bn., Antrobus died on 19th of March 1916 at the age of 26. Son of Clement and Mary Harris of Ellangown, Crieff, Scotland. Antrobus was born at Middlesborough where his father was organist at Saint Paul's Church. Antrobus studied music and was a graduate of the University of Edinburgh. He became the organist at Saint James' Episcopal Church, Cupar, Scotland, before, in July 1914, becoming the organist and choir master at Saint Peter's Church Kirkley. the100, De Ruvigny
William  Ling
A Corporal with 2nd Bn., William died on 14th of March 1915 at the age of 26. William was born at Lowestoft on 20 April 1888, a son of Samuel and Maria Ling. In 1891 his family lived at 35 Oxford Road, Lowestoft, and this was still their home in 1901. On 8 December 1910 William married Barbara Ellen Cannell at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft. A Skipper with H.M. Drifter Launch Out, Horace died on 29th of October 1916 at the age of 38.Horace was born at Haddiscoe on 8 May 1878, a son of George and Sarah Kemp. In 1881 his family lived near the church at Haddiscoe and this was still their address in 1891. Horace went to school at Haddiscoe.  De Ruvigny
Karl Ferdinand Arnold
A Captain with 1st Bn., Karl died on 23rd of April 1915 at the age of 27.  Karl was born at Penarth, Cardiff on 19 March 1888, a son of Franck Thomas and Edith Maud Arnold. His grandfather was Reverend Charles Thomas Arnold, of Rugby, and his grandmother, Susanna Magdalena Arnold, lived at 4 High Street, Lowestoft. Bernard J  Mann
A Corporal with 15th (Suffolk Yeomanry) Battalion, Bernard died on 5th of September 1918 aged 20. Bernard was born at Lowestoft on 27 January 1897, a son of Joseph and Eliza Jane Mann. In 1901 his family lived at 2 Raglan Street and in 1911 at 51 Roman Road. Later his parents lived at 103 Clapham Road. Bernard was educated at Lowestoft and subsequently worked in the office of his uncle, Jabez Mann, engineers, at Sevenoaks, Kent.  De Ruvigny
Frederick Thomas Rudd
A Seaman with H.M.S. Cressy, Frederick died on 22nd of September 1914 aged17. Frederick was born at Lowestoft on 14 January 1897, a son of Frederick James and Ellen (Nellie) Rudd. In 1901 his family lived at Wood's Loke and by 1915 their home was at 36 Rotterdam Road. Frederick attended Yarmouth Road School, Oulton Broad. In 1914 Frederick worked on the trawler Stowe LT 70.  Frederick joined the Royal Naval Reserve on 9 February 1914. Frederick was called out for service at the start of the First World War and on 3 August 1914 joined H.M.S. Cressy.  Royal Navy War Graves , De Ruvigny

A Warrant Telegraphist with H.M.S. Champagne, Charles died on 9th of October 1917 at the age of 23. Charles was born at East Bergholt, Suffolk, on 4 December 1893, a son of George and Susannah Stannard. In 1901 Charles’ family lived at The Police Station, Tavern Street, Stowmarket, where his father was a police inspector. By 1911 they were living at 33 Cobbold Street, Ipswich. Later they lived at 57 Levington Road, Ipswich, before moving to 29 Carlton Road, Pakefield. De Ruvigny
James Alfred Ward
A Gunner with 326th Siege Battery, James died on 31st of October 1917 at the age of 19. James was born at Kirkley on 28 April 1898, a son of James and Bessie Ward (note her first initial is also given as A). In 1901 his family lived at 2 Morton Road, Kirkley, and by 1911 they were living at 57 Morton Road. By 1916 they were living at 30 Clemence Street and later they lived at 98 Norwich Road, Lowestoft.James attended Morton Road County Council School and subsequently worked at the Conservative Club, Lowestoft.  De Ruvigny
A Private with 14th Battalion, George died on 16th of October 1916 at the age of 29. George was born at Rendham, Suffolk, on 23 October 1886, a son of Arthur and Ellen Maria Wink. In 1891 his family lived near the chapel at Rendham. George was educated at Pakefield. In 1901 his family lived at Birds Farm, Birds Lane, Carlton Road, Kirkley, and George was a grocer’s errand boy. By 1911 they were living at 41 Kimberley Road, Lowestoft, and George was a general carter.   De Ruvigny
